We’re delighted to report that funding has been secured for the development of an Edible Estates project for the Magdalene Estate in Craigmillar, Edinburgh. The Climate Challenge Funding will allow the project to start in April 2015.
The project client is the Community Alliance Trust (www.communityalliancetrust.org.uk), a development trust which serves the community of Craigmillar. The project will be implemented by Re:Solution, providing design and management services, and The Wester Hailes Edible Estates team (www.whee.org.uk), who will provide the community gardeners, workshop leaders and other support.
The project will community self-build a community food growing hub for Magdalene residents and investigate other community greenspace ideas for the estate.
